Improving the quality of life is not a privilege reserved for developed countries.
The MOR-POWER device constitutes not only a reliable and portable energy source but also encourages the use of free and sustainable power through a new distribution system. This system is not based on the interests of financial profits but rather a concept of improving lives and the world in which we live by providing sustainable energy for everyone, including those who cannot afford it.

Product designer Maximilian Näther recently launched his design of the racing motorcycle ‘Rih’, which he developed as part of his diploma thesis at the University of Applied Sciences Coburg, Germany.
Rih, designed for small series production, is a 1000ccm motorbike targeted at the special needs of hobby racers. Racetrack motorcycles for hobby riders are mostly mass production bikes, which have to be altered and converted at great cost and effort. The Rih closes the gap with a bike adjusted and produced only for hobby racing.
Despite being a competitive sport-bike with no compromise in demands of performance, weight, aerodynamics and chassis, Rih enthuses with new ideas and concepts. The design is based on the likeness of a motorbike and a living organism. Examples are the ‘breathing’ of air, the absorption of energy, the conversion to power and the skeletal structure of the frame, or the skin-like fairing. The owner's reference to his machine is often emotionally alike to the relation to a precious animal such as a thoroughbred racehorse.
The heart of the motorbike is the new V4-engine by Aprilia, whose ignition timing reminds of the dark sound of the MotoGP machines. Some of the special features include:
The frame and swingarm are not like common tube frames, designed with two-dimensional tube structures, but with traverse-shaped three-dimensional tube structures, which makes the chassis even stiffer and more direct. The swinging lines appear like muscle strands and sinews.
The footpeg unit can be rotated and is mounted on the swingarm pivot to make it ergonomically customisable. The footpeg itself is easily adjustable in length via three notches.
The fairing is made of carbon fibre, which is common in race sports. The front leaning of the fairing seems aggressive and feisty.
To protect the bike in case of a crash to the low side, crash pads are placed on both sides on which the bike can slide to halt.
The windshield is seated on ‘nostril shaped’ RAM airs and forms the whole front part. In its middle is a rhombic section behind which a camera for onboard video recording is hidden. The windshield is directly bolt together with the dashboard. A full digital element provides a simple and clear cockpit and allows the rider to record and analyse diverse data.
The air system with its lung-like membranes on the fuel tank in an entirely new design feature. These shape the top of the airbox and make the intake process lucid. For instance, when one is accelerating in idle running, the motor abruptly sucks in lots of air, which results in low pressure in the airbox, made visible by the flexible membranes yielding to the inside – the motorbike breathes. This act helps the driver to better understand the activities in the motorbike and is advantageous in troubleshooting.
The designers are currently developing on pre-production prototypes.

Client: Modern Technology Designer: Roger Hardie
Brief: Design an alloy wheel to be used on classic racing cars of the 1950's and 60's. The wheel must be an all-new design but must look and compliment the styling typical of the cars of that era.
Why it works: The functional and simple styling lives perfectly in the world of the classic racing car. The wheel looks as though it could have been purchased with the car 50 years ago while the structural design meets all the modern specifications in safety and reliability.

The Ear Bible headset, the first of its kind, is a dedicated player loaded with 75 hours of audio feed. Readymade was able to design this headset with an amazingly small form factor, weighing only 27grams. Fitting the LCD display, 7 buttons, PCB, speaker and battery that delivers 7-10 hours off play, was no mean feat.
The player has an innovative navigation button that surrounds the LCD lens. This allows the user to easily navigate through the bible. Unlike iPods and MP3 players, the Ear Bible doesn't block out your environment, which means it is good for listening whilst at work or driving.

The official match ball for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup is named Kopanya, Sesotho for ‘join together’. The outer shell of the ball is decorated with Ndebele artwork and colours of the South African flag.
For decades, Adidas has tailored the name and design of FIFA tournament match balls to honour the host country. Adidas has now, for the first time ever, created a match ball specifically designed for a FIFA Confederations Cup. The name of the ball and its unusual design pay tribute to 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup hosts, South Africa.
'Kopanya' was unveiled as the Official Match Ball of the 2009 tournament in front of a roaring crowd as South Africa faced off against Africa's Indomitable Lions, Cameroon, in the annual Nelson Mandela Challenge Match. The 2010 FIFA World Cup hosts and the African football giants were the first teams to ever set use 'Kopanya'.
Joining together
The word 'kopanya' comes from Southern Sesotho, an official language spoken by almost five million people throughout the rainbow nation. Literally translated, kopanya means ‘join together’. A very appropriate term for an event that is meant to bring together continental champions and world champions, and introduce them to the 11-language nation that will host the world's greatest sporting event in 2010.
A clear symbol of the first FIFA World Cup on the African continent, Kopanya's unusual design was inspired by the artwork of the Ndebele people of Southern Africa.
Performance characteristics put the ball in the same class as the recent Europass Gloria and other high-profile match balls. 14 panels are bonded together with a specially-developed thermal bonding technique, giving the ball excellent flight characteristics.
The complex shapes and black contours are traditional Ndebele elements, and have been fused with the colourful vibrancy that typifies modern Ndebele artists. A silver sheen provides a futuristic touch. The design honours tradition while embracing the future – a core value of Adidas
