eVolvo’s 2010 Skyscraper Competition invites students and professional architects, engineers, and designers to examine
the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the community and urban living. The aim of the
competition is to push our imagination to redefine the term skyscraper through the use of new materials, technology,
aesthetics, programs, and spatial organisations. Several issues such as globalisation, environmental warming, flexibility,
adaptability, and the digital revolution should be taken into consideration when designing the skyscraper.
There are no restrictions in regards to site, program or size.

The High Bridge International Ideas Competition

Restaurant & Bar Design Awards

Totally independent, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, now in it's second year, is the only concept of its kind
dedicated exclusively to design. Judged by a highly influential panel of top international journalists from the design,
hospitality and lifestyle sectors, the judges will recognise and reward both 'restaurants and bars' and their 'designers' for
design excellence. With free online entry and a wide variety of categories, applicants and their projects receive extensive
exposure, raising their profile for the duration of the competition and beyond.
The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards have rapidly established a distinguished following, attracting submissions from
such high profile designers as Zaha Hadid, Karim Rashid, Kengo Kuma and David Collins in its first year.
Who can enter: Open to UK projects (the only exceptions are restaurant and bar entries made into the international
category) launched or renovated between the 1st January and 31st December 2009.

International Velux Award 2010 for Students of Architecture

The International VELUX Award encourages students of architecture to explore the theme of sunlight and daylight in its
widest sense to create a deeper understanding of this specific and ever relevant source of light and energy. The Award is
presented every second year to promote and celebrate excellence in completed study works in any scale from smallscale
components to large urban contexts or abstract concepts and experimentation.
The total prize money is 30,000 Euro. The jury, comprising internationally renowned architects and other building
professionals will award a number of prize winners and honourable mentions. The winners will be invited to the Award
event that is planned to take place in the autumn 2010. All projects submitted for the Award will be displayed on the
Award website.
Who can enter: It is global and open to any registered student of architecture backed by a teacher from a school of
architecture.

Schindler Award 2010

The Schindler Award is an architecture competition that challenges young architects to place "Access for All" at the
center of their design philosophy. Open to students and schools of architecture in Europe, the Award recognises urban
designs that are characterised by inclusiveness and barrier-free mobility for people of all ages and capabilities. The
competition is held under the patronage of the Schindler Group, and is an excellent opportunity for graduating architects
to have their designs judged by a professional jury.
